The Chattanooga Police Department divides their jurisdiction of the city into three separate sectors, each of these being further subdivided into distinct zones.
Sector 1 consists of three zones. Alpha Zone encompasses Northern Chattanooga, Mountain Creek, Riverview, Hixson, the Signal Mountain Road area, and Middle Valley. Bravo Zone encompasses the downtown area, Lincoln Park, Coolidge Park, the North Shore and the Waterfront, Renaissance Park, the Main Street and MLK Boulevard areas, and the Westside Community. Fox Zone encompasses Highland Park, Ridgedale, and Eastlake and Interstate 24 east and west.
Sector 3 is divided into two zones. Delta Zone encompasses a large area often called Brainerd, which includes Eastgate Town Center, the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, and the I-75 and I-24 split. George Zone encompasses East Brainerd, Highway 58, the Ooltewah area, Interstate 75, and Highway 153.
Organizationally, the CPD consists of a number of distinct unit, divisions, and commands. The Uniformed Services Command houses the Patrol Division, which handles patrol services for the three sectors and subsequent zones of the city, and the Special Operations Division, which handles Homeland Security issues, school patrolling, canine services, tactical response, hostage negotiations, special events, and traffic enforcement. The Investigative Services Division encompasses the Intelligence / Computer Crimes Units, the Major Crimes Division (consisting of the Homicide Unit, the Child Abuse Unit, the Domestic Violence Unit, the Juvenile / Missing Persons Unit, and AFIS), the Property Crimes Division (consisting of the Burglary / Robbery Unit, the Fraud Unit, and the Pawn Unit), and the Special Investigations Division (consisting of the Fugitive Unit (having the Auto Theft and Crime Suppression Units) and the Narcotics / Vice Unit (consisting of Highway Interdiction and Electronic Technicians)). The Administration & Support Command encompasses the Training and Personnel Division (handling training, recruitment, and field training), the Operational Support Division (composed of Safety Coordinators, Court Liasons, Property, and the Regulatory Bureau), and the Technical Services Division (encompassing the Crime Analysis Unit, Records and Data Entry, the Polygraph Unit, and the Teleserve Unit). The Administration & Support Command also handles all the management and maintenance of the departments vehicle fleets and all financial and budgetary concerns.
